Building a Simple Notary Platform¶

This tutorial uses the Sign Protocol Smart Contract directly, the NPM SDK, and the Indexing Service's APIs to query for attestations.

Problem statement: a basic IRL notary platform¶

Bob needs to sign a contract physically and have the signature notarized by Alice. Anyone can validate a digital signature with a public key, but a physical signature offers no such check. How can anyone be sure Bob signed and nobody forged his signature? Alice is a trusted notary whose job is to attest that the person signing a contract is who they say they are. If people trust Alice, they can take her word that Bob signed the contract. In this tutorial, you build a system where Alice uses Sign Protocol attestations to attest to Bob's signature.
