EthSign¶
EthSign is a digital document signing application that works with any private key. It handles legal contract signing, has features such as the Contract Template Library and Contract Verification, and offers the same cryptographic security as an onchain dapp. Contracts signed on EthSign stay siloed within the parties and context of the signing, so other dapps cannot compose with or reuse those agreements.
Proof of Agreement¶
Proof of Agreement is an attestation made with Sign Protocol that confirms an agreement exists between parties. A third party can verify the agreement's existence for business purposes, and EthSign or other third parties can act as witnesses that attest to the signing of a contract.
Witnessed Agreements¶
With Witnessed Agreements, EthSign users choose whether EthSign or a third party witnesses the signing of their agreement. The witness then issues an attestation, which is the proof of agreement.
The proof of agreement lets users show their contractual arrangements with other parties onchain without revealing sensitive details.
Among other parts of Sign Protocol, the initial integration uses:
- API frameworks for connecting to and interacting with Sign Protocol's backends and infrastructure
- a dedicated schema for issuing attestations for agreements made on EthSign
- the Sign Protocol Toolstack and Infra, which provides tools and libraries for the integration such as custom indexers and smart contracts
Schemas¶
EthSign uses two schemas that cover the signing and completion of agreements:
